Several species of woodpecker make Crowley's Ridge State Park their homes. Join a park interpreter for a stroll and learn different ways to spot them. Meet at the Visitor Center.

ECO-CONFETTI
Traditional confetti is made with plastics that are not environmentally friendly. Join a park interpreter in making an alternative version of confetti from leaves. Meet at the Visitor Center.

WHAT DOES THE BIRD SAY
Birds are sneaky and often hide in the leaves making them difficult to observe. Join a park interpreter to learn some bird songs and how to observe them with your ears! Meet at the Visitor Center.

PAINT A NATURE HOLIDAY CARD
The holidays are just around the corner! Join a park interpreter to make paint brushes from materials that you can find in nature. Then, paint your family a holiday card. All materials will be provided. Meet at the Visitor Center.

DANCING RABBIT TRAIL DISCOVERY HIKE
What is there to see on Dancing Rabbit Trail this time of the year? Let's find out! Join a park interpreter for a 1.25-mile moderate hike on this trail to discover what we can observe. Meet at the Visitor Center.

TREE COOKIE CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS PAINTING
The holiday is just around the corner. Join a park interpreter in a nature-oriented craft of decorating tree cookie Christmas ornaments while learning a little bit about the trees. This is a drop-in program. Feel free to come and go as you please while practicing social distancing. While this program is free, making a donation of $1 per ornament is suggested. Meet at the Visitor Center.

CAN-STELLATIONS
Take a piece of trash and turn it into a stargazing tool you can take home! Join a park interpreter in make constellation lanterns from soda cans. Meet at the Visitor Center.

OLD FASHIONED WRITING
The holidays are just around the corner. Join a park interpreter to write a holiday card with a quill pen. Bring your own holiday card or craft one with cardstock paper. All materials will be provided. Meet at the Visitor Center.

Sunday, December 18

9-11:30am
3-MILE HIKE
Start your Sunday off with a right foot on the trail! Join a park interpreter on this moderate 3-mile hike on Dancing Rabbit Trail and Spider Creek Trail. Please bring plenty of water, snacks, trail appropriate footwear, and weather appropriate clothing. Meet at the Visitor Center.

N.Y.E. SENSORY HIKE
Do you want to participate on a New Year's Eve hike but staying up late is not your thing? Join a park interpreter for a very special sensory hike exploring your senses in the dark. Limited flashlights will be provided. Bringing your own flashlight and wearing sturdy walking shoes are recommended. Meet at the campground bathhouse.

10pm-midnight
HIKE TO MIDNIGHT
Walk into a new year at Crowley's Ridge State Park...literally! We will start at the CCC Pavilion. Then, we will hike on the Pavilion Trail and part of Spider Creek Trail which is moderately difficult. Limited flashlights will be provided. Bringing your own flashlight and wearing sturdy walking shoes are recommended. Participants will receive hot chocolate and trail mix (while supplies last) to complete the celebration. Registration is required. Because our trails normally close at sundown, this is a very special hike. Please register at the Visitor Center or by calling the Visitor Center at 870-573-6751. Registration ends on Saturday, December 31 at 5pm. Meet at the CC Pavilion.

Sunday, January 1

10-11am
FIRST DAY HIKE - COLOR HIKE CHALLENGE
Color me surprised! Nature primarily consists of varying shades of green and brown. However, vibrant colors like pink and blue are out there if you look closely. Join a park interpreter to test your observation skill on this color hike challenge. We will hike the 1.25-mile Dancing Rabbit Trail which is moderate difficulty. Please wear weather-appropriate shoes and clothing along with bringing plenty of water. #ArStateParks #FirstDayHikes
